The members of the Petain Cabinet, at their first meeting, discussed the removal of the administration to Versailles and also problems connected with the sending home of refugees and demobilised soldiers. M. Leon Noel, who has been negotiating with the Germans for the transfer of the seat of government, is expected back with terms. AMATEUR SPORT FAVOURED BY NEW FRENCH MINISTER. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) VICHY, July 14. M. Ybarne Garay. Minister of Youth and Family, announced the suppression of all professional sports in France. He added that this decision arises from the conviction that sport must be amateur if it is sincere. He outlined plans to develop all kinds of amateur sports, with a secretary-general for each branch. BOROTRA’S POST FASCIST SYMPATHIES KNOWN. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) LONDON. July 14. The appointment of Jean Borotra as National Director of Sport causes no surprise in French circles in London, where his Fascist sympathies are known. He was a member of Colonel De La Rocque's organisation and a friend of M. Ybarne Garay. BATTLE OF ORAN REACTION IN FRANCE. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) MADRID. July 14. Mr Bullitt (American Ambassador to: France), interviewed. described the French reaction to the Battle of Oran as violent, because the people trusting in the German armistice, had not suspected that such a happening was possible. i
