WAR OUTLOOK
ADDRESS BY PREMIER NEW BUILDINGS OPENED. ADDITIONS TO DANNEVIRKE HOSPITAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, July 14.. Additions to the Dannevirke Public Hospital, comprising an administrative block, a women’s block and a maternity ward, costing approximately £50,000, were opened by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large and representative gathering. The speakers included the Mayor, Mr Gibbard, the member for the district, Sir Alfred Ransom, Mr L. Stein, chairman of the board and others. The Prime Minister congratulated the Board upon the handsome additions to the hospital. In regard to the war, he appealed to people not to listen to the lying propaganda from the German radio, levelled at the .Biiush people. It aimed at disruption and the smashing of the morale of the British nation. He also condemned the dangerous practice of spreading lumouis which were absolutely untrue and without the slightest foundation. Those who liked to believe the worst were just as bad as those who spread false rumours. He requested the people not to become alarmed, but always to remain cool, whatever situation they might be placed in. The Government would always take the people into its confidence in regard to important matters. As the war developed, particularly in the East, rumours might be intensified and when these were circulated. with a view to presaging the defeat of Britain, he asked people to do their very best to check them straight away. Now was the time for the people to realise the position confronting the British Commonwealth of Nations and the necessity for unity, putting into the background all political controversies and setting themselves w the one task of achieving victory.
