It is reported that 50 were killed and 50 are missing on Kiyake Island as the result of an eruption of Mount Yuzan, the first since 1874. The Navy dispatched the destroyer Okishii.ua with provisions- and medical supplies and also a minesweeper to rescue the islanders, who have taken refuge temporarily in Izu village. The steamer Daifuku Marti is proceeding to the scene.

A typhone at Keijo, Chosen, killed 52 people, injured 100, and left thousands homeless. Soldiers are patrolling the area to prevent looting. A hundred bridges were demolished.
