The death occurred at Pahiatua on Saturday of Mr Edmond Stack at the age of 82 years.

Mr Ray Marsack, of Masterton, who has enlisted is going into camp at Burnham.

Mr F. Purnell, Mayor of Marton, has been elected president of the newlyformed Marton Patriotic Society. Messrs Letham (Napier), R. Metcalfe (Palmerston North). C. Lamberg (Wellington) are at the Hotel Midland, Masterton.

The death is reported, according to a cablegram from London, of Sir Alfred Gibbs Bourne, a well known zoologist and botanist. A Sydney cablegram reports the death at the age of 70 of W. P. Howell, a former international cricketer. He accompanied three Australian teams to England.

The death of Major James Aeneas Cameron, aged 60, has occurred in ■Auckland after an illness of several months. Major Cameron, who was a member of a family prominent in racing circles in the Rangitikei district left New Zealand as a captain in the Wellington Regiment with the Main Body in the last war and was promoted major in 1916. After the armistice he was appointed New Zealand representative on the Inter-Allied Games Commission. He was manager of the famous New Zealand Army Rugby team which won the King's Cup and defeated France. He was also manager of the successful New Zealand athletic team. In civil life Major Cameron was in the service of the Public Works Department at Auckland.
