PROTEST IN FRANCE
AGAINST NAZI PLUNDER POLICY SEIZURE OF VALUABLES , IN BANKS. CONTRARY TO ARMISTICE TERMS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 11. A document signed by General Weygand, which has fallen into the hands of officials in London, shows that the French Government protested against a German order apparently foreshadowing the seizure of all valuables from French banks, including gold, precious stones, stocks and shares, of which a German circular issued on June 14 demanded details and forbade clients going to banks to open they.' strong boxes unless the German authorities were notified. The French document expresses the opinion that the order is contrary to the armistice clause stipulating that the French Government would be res- ", ponsible for the administration of occupied territory.
