FEELING IN TOKIO
TREND AGAINST BRITAIN SIGNIFICANT CHARGES. MR CHURCHILL CRITICISED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) TOKIO, July 11. The newspaper “Miyako Shimbim.” states that the Imperial Household Minister, Air Tsuneo Matsudaira, considered among the leading proBritish Japanese, who are at. present: in growing public disfavour, has expressed his intention of resigning in order “to make a change in the atmosphere of the Imperial Household Department.” The event has significance in view of the recent resignation of the Lord Privy Seal, Mr Yuasa, who is also regarded as pro-British and conservative. The .“Miyako Shimbun” says Viscount Mushakoji is likely to be Mr Matsudaira’s successor. The “Kokumin Shimbun,” referring to the interview between the British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie and the Vice-Foreign Minister. Mr Tani, last evening, said, it was Mr Churchill’s intention to "procrastinate as long as possible in making the British final reply pending consolidation of the Hong Kong and Singapore defences and efforts to secure United States and Russian aid, after which he will reject the Burma protest.” ACTIONS TO SOUTH FAVOURED BY CABINET ADVISERS (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) TOKIO, July 11. Cabinet advisers, after a lengthy session, are reported to have favoured strengthening foreign policy, through actions to the south. The “Kokumini Shimbun” said the advisers discussed closer Axis connections, indicating a trend against the Prime Minister, Admiral Yonai.
