CONTROL OF ALIENS

AUSTRALIAN OFFER TO BRITAIN. RECEPTION OF FAMILIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, July IL The Under-Secretary for the Home Office, Mr Peake, in the House of Commons announced Australia’s willingness to receive not only men internees, but women and children. Thus there was a possibility of the British authities reuniting families and sending them to Australia. He added that Australia and Canada had given an assurance that they would treat these people with all possible humanity. During the debate it was asserted that people useful to Britain in the war had been interned. The principal reason for the proposed transfer was the desire of the military to remove aliens from coastal areas likely to be invaded.
