MINIATURE RIFLES WEEKLY COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the scores in the weekly competition of the Featherston Miniature Rifles Club: —Miss Chalmers, 93; S. Buck, 93; M. McKenzie, 93; W. Nix, 91; J. Viles, 95; A. Hodder, 97; E. McKenzie, 98; J. Buck, 92; A. Viles, 91; J. Moriarity, 90; K. McKenzie, 97; H. McNamara, 93. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. At the monthly meeting of the Kahutara Women’s Institute Mrs McKenna presided over a fair attendance of members. An electric toaster has been donatea for competition, the proceeds of which are to be used for procuring wool to knit for comforts for local soldiers. Seeds were sold and the proceeds also went towards the wool fund. Next month Miss Maddever, of Wellington, is to give a travel talk. The competition. "Something new from something old” resulted in some beautiful and useful frocks of various colours and sizes for refugee children being brought. The winner of this competition was Mrs Welsh with a knitted frock. Mrs D. Wilson was second. Best bloom: Mrs Hood. Senr, 1, Mrs Rogers 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Elbe, Harland, T. Hood and Pottinger. Golf. The ladies’ played a stableford competition on the Gum Grove links yesterday afternoon, the result being: Miss M. Ruane 1, Mrs Lovegrove 2, Mrs J. B. Davis 3. The annual match with Greytown has been postponed until Saturday, July 20. when A and B teams will meet at Featherston. The third round of the medal competition will be played on Saturday. Patriotic Society. A meeting of the executive committee of the Patriotic Society was presided over by Mr J. W. Card. It was decided to divide the districts into zones for the entertaining of soldiers. The convenors appointed were: Tauherenikau. Mrs Q. Donald; South Featherston, Mrs Arch Clark; Kahutara, Mrs D. C. Collins; Western Lake, Mrs A. R. Robbins; Featherston, Mrs C. J. Carlyon. The dances are to be held every Saturday night and each zone committee will in turn provide the supper. z
