Two Polish, merchantmen, the Stalowawola and Pulaski, escaped from French West Africa ports despite orders from the French to remain. The Slalowawola broke out from Dakar, dodging searchlight beams and net defences. The Pulaski left Konakry at night time, under lire from the shore batteries. Both ships arc now in Britain.
