Italians Chased Into Shelter ENEMY SUBMARINE AND DESTROYER SUNK AND CRUISER HIT BY TORPEDO NO CASUALTIES ON THE BRITISH SHIPS « An Admiralty communique, dealing with the naval action in the Mediterranean and transmitted by Daventry states that the British Commander-in-Chief found it disappointing, because he had no chance to deal with the enemy at close range. An enemy cruiser was hit by a torpedo from the Fleet Air Arm. The Italians admit that a heavy unit was hit by a 15-inch she 1. There were no casualties on the British ships. In another part of the Mediterranean a British submarine sighted an Italian U-boat, which was torpedoed and sank stern first. . The British fleet chased the enemy ships right into the shelter of the Italian shore defences. The pursuit was not given up until the ships were in sight of land. An Italian communique admits the loss of a destroyer in the Mediterranean. The Italian casualties in the naval action were 29 killed and 69 injured.
