MAINTENANCE OF STEAMER SERVICE. GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY OFFERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Minister of Marine (Dr. McMillan) announced today that the Government has decided to oiler a subsidy of £1.290 inclusive of the cost of carryingmail for 1 a year, to the successful tenderer for the steamer Tees, up for sale, provided an adequate service is maintained with the Chatham Islands. Details will be determined by the Minister in consultation with the parties.
