REP. RUGBY BUSH TEAM TO PLAY PUKETOI. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following will represent the Bush Rugby Union in the first representative match of the season against Puketoi at Pahiatua on Saturday:— Full-back: F. Rossiter (Woodville). Three-quarters: W. Twentyman (Hukanui), P. Twentyman (Hukanui), C. Eddie (Konini). Five-eighths: D. Hunt (Mangatainoka), S. Staples (Mangatainoka). Half-back: E. Lett (Mangatainoka). Forwards: Front row: B. Smith (Konini), E. Woodill (Mangatainoka). J. Walker (Woodville). Second row: C. Rosyth (Woodville), L. Goss (Nireaha), L. Wenham (Hukanui). Back row: W. Welsh (Hukanui). Emergencies: Backs, A. Fulton (.Mangatainoka), S. Wolland (Hamua), J. Tait (Mangatainoka); forwards, F. Sigvertsen (Nireaha), Braddick (Hamua), Players will assemble at the Commercial Hotel, Pahiatua, at 1.45 p.m. on Saturday and are to bring their own shorts. BASKETBALL BUSH ASSOCIATION. The results of games played in the Bush Basketball Association’s competition on Monday night are as follows: United 17 beat Eketahuna 16; Stars A 31 beat Konini B 21: Tuis 26 beat Hamua 3; Hukanui 21 beat Stars B 20. ■ The fixtures for next Monday are:— Konini v Stars B, at 6.30 p.m.; Stars A v Eketahuna. at 7.15 p.m.: Hukanui v United, at 8 p.m.; Tuis v Konini B. at 8.45 p.m. SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna District High School Committee those present were Messrs H. E Greathead (in the chair). K. Murray. R. Gallagher. J. Tolley, R. Farrow, H Rogers, S. Daniel (secretary) and the headmaster. Mr A. B. Fordyce. Accounts amounting to £9 19s 7d were passed for payment. A hearty welcome was extended to Mr R. Farrow on his first appearance at committee meetings. Mr Farrow suitably replied. The headmaster’s report stated that there are 148 primary pupils and 48 secondary pupils on the school roll. During the past month several classes had been depleted through colds and influenza. It was decided to write to the Borough Council asking that body to place a pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Dental Clinic.
The visiting committee reported that the appointments at both schools were in good order, only minor matters requiring attention. Mr Fordyce expressed his appreciation of the manner in which Mr Turley was carrying out his duties as cleaner. Messrs R. Farrow and H. Rogers were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. DAIRY COMPANY NEW MANAGER APPOINTED. At a special meeting of the Eketahuna Dairy Company held last night, Mr A. Hardingham was appointed manager at the Eketahuna butter factory to succeed Mr G. McWhirter who has been appointed manager at Mauriceville. Borough Foreman. At a meeting of the Eketahuna Borough Council, Mr S. Daniel was appointed to succeed Mr W. Green, who recently retired, as borough foreman.
