WAR DEMANDS
MEN INSTEAD OF BRICKS & MORTAR. INSPECTION OF CANADIANS IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 7. Mr Churchill, with the War Secretary, Mr Eden, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Home Front, General Ironside, paid a surprise visit on Saturday to the first Canadian division. Commenting during the visit on developments in modern warfare, particularly the Maginot Line, Mr Churchill said: “You cannot buy safety with bricks and mortar. You can buy it only with men.”
