“REFUGEE” NAZI
GERMAN ARROGANCE. MELBOURNE GIRL REACTS. Patrons of Myer's big Bourke Street store, Melbourne, were amazed recently by the spectacle of a free fight between two girl employees, states a Melbourne correspondent. Contestants were a young foreign girl and a Melbourne lass. The brawl, which lasted for about five minutes, brought big crowds of shoppers to the department which served as an arena. The affray was the result of an argument over a trivial routine matter. The Melbourne girl objected to certain aggressive mannerisms of the newcomer. Heated words passed and the refugee chipped in with a remark which proved too much for the Australian. “You'd better pay more attention to the study of the German language, which you'll be needing to speak within six months,” was the remark with which the importation evidently hoped to silence the Australian. Immediately chaos reigned in the store. Fellow employees rushed to the scene. Customers rushed in from other departments and from the street. Employees, while admitting (heir delight in the way their workmate acted. refused to discuss the fight. Meanwhile it would be interesting to know what action will be taken by the heads of the firm and if the defence authorities will take any action to curb activities of this potential fifth columnist. It is logical to assume that there arc many more at home like her.
