NEW LIGHT CAR
DESIGNED FOR TODAY'S NEEDS. A new English car of outstanding economy, has just been announced in New Zealand. This is the 8-horse-power Anglia, a product of the Ford organisation. 100 per cent English and built at the New Zealand Ford factory. The Anglia should make a strong appeal, both to the motorist who lias always considered the “Eight” the ideal type of car and to those accustomed to more powerl'ul types. Among the many desirable features of the Anglia, its exceptional size and roominess are of paramount interest, it has the largest body of any English car of comparable horse-power and provides outstanding headroom and legroom. In addition, the Anglia has the largest luggage compartment ever fitted to an eight horse-power car. This is accessible from the outside. Using the lower rear door as well, the amount of extra luggage which can be carried is altogether unusual. The spare wheel and tools are kept in separate compartments of their own. From every viewpoint the Anglia is an impressive car. Its long bonnet and graceful body lines are most attractive and streamlining has been used with restraint. Large fenders and full length bumpers at both front and rear add to
a very substantial appearance. Important, too, are the particularly large windows which give splendid visibility. Inside appointments are also commendable. The instruments are centrally grouped on a plastic panel finished in grained walnut, with window facings to match. Beneath the instrument panel there is a shelf, the full width of the car. high enough to accommodate a man's hat; and further parcel room is given by a wide shelf behind the rear seat. Arm' rests are provided for rear seat passengers. Upholstery of the Anglia is genuine Nev.' Zealand leather and many colour options of both interior finish and body are available.
An appreciable saving in weight has been effected throughout the construction of the Anglia, a factor which should enhance petrol consumption as well as performance. Ford products have always enjoyed an enviable reputation for lively performance and Anglia owners will be more than satisfied on this score. Other important features of the Anglia arc a reserve vacuum tank to provide constant operation of the dual windscreen wipers, Girling brakes on all four wheels, adjustable double-acting hydraulic shock absorbers. push-pull handbrake located under dash, down draught carburettor with easy starting device, chain driven camshaft.
The new Anglia is now on display at all Ford dealers throughout New Zealand.
