FEILDING SALE. KEEN DEMAND FOR ALL LINES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. July 5. A keen demand for all stock was evident at today’s Feilding stock sale. Mutton and beef were both firm on late rates, and store sheep values showed a large advance. Fat sheep: The yarding in this section was of prime quality, particularly in the ewe pens, the tops of which went up on last week’s values. Extra prime ewes made 30s to 31s Id; prime 26s 9d to 29s 6d; medium weights, 23s to 265; unfinished. 17s to 22s 3d; extra prime wethers, 30s 9d to 335; second quality, 27s to 30s; lighter, 25s to 26s 9d; heavy prime lambs, 23s to 24s 9d; lighter, 20s to 22s 6d; unfinished, 17s to 19s 6d. Store sheep: All breeding ewes were in splendid demand, aged lines of good quality advancing considerably. Ewe lambs also made higher prices. Best two-tooth ewes made 30s to 31s Id; others, 27s 6d; very good four and fiveyear ewes. 25s to 25s lOd; second quality, 20s 2d to 24s 2d; good four-year ewes, 24s 8d; extra ’good five-year ewes, 26s 7d; fat and forward ewes, 14s sd; forward four-tooth wethers, 245; very good ewe lambs, 29s to 29s 2d; small, 21s 9d to 23s 2d; best'wether lambs, 19s Id to 20s Id; second grade, 18s to 18s 9d; others, 13s to 15s 7d; b.f. lambs, Ils 3d to 17s. Store cattle: A light entry of store stock met with a fii-m sale at unchanged rales, though boner cows were down slightly. Good 3|-year A.A. steers made £7 10s to £7 12s; A.A. cows, £5 14s; good yearling Jersey heifers, £4 to £4 10s; others. £3 to £3 15s; Jersey steers, £4 5s to £5; boner cows, heavy, £4 to £5 Ils; others, £2 to £3 15s. Dairy stock: Cows and heifers of good quality and nearing profit sold readily, notwithstanding a substantial yarding. Best springing cows made £8 14s to £lO 10s; late calvers, £4 15s to £7 10s; cows in milk, £9 15s; springing heifers, good, £9 5s to £lO 15s; second grade, £6 5s to £9; poor, from £4 ss.
Fat cattle: Prime lightweight beef went up by about 2s a. 1001 b. A strong demand was evident throughout. Prime Red Poll steers made £l3 2s 6d; second grade, £8 10s to £lO 15s; prime Hereford cows, £9 10s to £11; second quality, £7 15s to £9 ss; others, £4 15s to £6 15s; light prime heifers, £6 5s to £7 15s; unfinished, £4 10s to £6; runners, £4 to £7; vealers, £2 to £3 ss. Pigs: A firm demand ruled for all pigs. Good wea.ners made 15s 6d to 19s 6d; slips, 275; stores, 395; porkers, '£2 6s. CARTERTON SALE. SHEEP SELL WELL. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co report that a fairly good offering of stock came forward at the sale conducted by them in Carterton yesterday. Sheep sold well, especially finished wethers and ewes. The top price for fat sheep was 34s 3d, and store sheep also made good values. Springing cows and heifers did not make quite such good prices as last week, but better sorts sold well. Good fat and store cows maintained late rates. Pigs were in very strong demand, and prices showed an improvement on last week’s figures, sows due to farrow making up to £ll 10s. Prices are as follow:— Sheep: Fat wethers 28s to 32s 3d; fat ewes 18s to 225; prime maiden ewes 34s 3d; light fat ewes 16s to 17s; ewe hoggets 18s 6d to 21s; b.f. hoggets 14s 6d. Cattle: Jersey cows on drop. £lO to £ll 15s; springing cows, £6s 5d to £8 10s; springing heifers to £8; fat cows £5 to £7 10s; forward cows £3 10s to £4 15s; store cows, £2 2s 6d to £3 ss. Pigs: Store pigs 26s to 32s 6d; light porkers 34s to 40s; porkers to £2 5s 6d; extra good Berkshire sows to farrow, to £ll 10s.
