INSPECTED BY THE KING.

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGEY. July 4

The King today inspected the Australian contingent in camp. His Majesty. who was accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief and staff officers of the contingent, inspected the troops undergoing training and expressed appreciation of their efficiency. Each battalion was headed by a band, which played the National Anthem when his Majesty arrived.

The King remarked on the large number of men who were wearing World War medals, and was told they had given their ages as under 36 when joining up and had not put up their ribbons till they left Australia.

His Majesty also spoke to a number of nurses who had crossed with the Australian ambulance service. An air raid was in progress in a nearby area while his Majesty was visiting New Zealand and Australian troops.
