The official radio declared that “the lying British Press was trying to mislead the world into believing that the Soviet defences were directed against a possible threat from Germany. That is untrue. The British Press must be aware that the British and French General Staffs were perfecting plans for an attack against Russia. ’ The "Izvestia” publishes German While Books which allegedly expose the British and French plans. REPORT CONTRADICTED APPEAL BY RUMANIANS. (Received This Day. 9.20 a.m.) MOSCOW. July 5. The Tass Agency denies that Moscow broadcast an appeal by the Rumanians for Soviet help against another Great Power on July 3.
