DEFENCE OF BRITAIN
SUGGESTION REJECTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright i (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON. July 4. The Prime Minister. Mr Winston Church, in the House of Commons rejected the suggestion that a comman-der-in-chief should be appointed for the efficient co-ordination of all military and civil departments concerned with the defence of Britain. He added that a closely knit and elaborate organisation already' existed to ensure the efficient concert of the whole home defence apparatus. It would be a great mistake at present to liquidate and remould this organisation.
