MARTINBOROUGH

4 HOCKEY POPULAR ■ CONSIDERABLE ENTHUSIASM. (“Times-Age” Special.) Hockey is finding strong support in the Martinborough district, and when the Excelsior juniors visited that town last Saturday to play the local team the game was witnessed by a good attendance of the public. Considering that nearly all the Martinborough girls have never played before this season, and that their match with Excelsior was only the second one they had ever participated in, it was not surprising that the Masterton team won by 7 goals to 1. The Martinborough girls are nothing if not enthusiastic, however, and once they gain an idea of the finer points of the game will improve out of all recognition. Two of their players who showed up well were Misses E. McKinley (bully) and J. Beveridge (goal).
