ENEMY BOMB
CASUALTIES IN BRITAIN FIVE GERMAN BOMBERS DESTROYED. IN COURSE OF ONE DAY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.45 a.m.) RUGBY, July 3. An Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security communique states: “Enemy aircraft this afternoon dropped bombs on the North-east coast of England. Casualties are reported in a Suffolk town, where two persons were killed and about sixteen injured. Our fighter patrol sent up to intercept shot down two enemy bombers, making a total of three destroyed today. "Later reports of last evening’s raid on the North-east Coast indicate that thirteen wore killed and about 120 injured, most of them not seriously. These casualties occurred in ihe residential areas of three Tyneside towns.” An Air Ministry communique issued later tonight states that two enemy bombers were intercepted and shot down by our fighters this evening, bringing the total of enemy aircraft destroyed during attacks on Britain today to five.
