ROTARY CLUB

LUNCHEON AT MASTERTON. WOOD FOR TRENTHAM CAMP. There was a large attendance at the weekly luncheon of the Masterton Rotary Club held in the Y.M.C.A. today. The president, Mr J. J. Hunter, was in the chair. The speaker of the day was Mr F. M. Whyte. District Public Trustee, who gave an illuminating address on the duties of an executor. On the motion of Mr W. J. Rew, Mr Whyte was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his instructive remarks. The president took occasion to farewell Mr Eric Eden, who has been transferred to Levin and Company’s head office, Wellington. Mr P. F. Fagan reported that he and Mr A. H. Daniell had been deputed by the club to secure supplies of firewood for the recreational huts at Trentham Camp. They had been successful in arranging for the cutting of 20 cords of maire, donated by Mr Alister Williams and Mr Colin Deans. Thanks were due to these dondrs, to Mr Fawcett for meeting them in the cost of cutting the wood, and to Mr E. C. Brenkley for cartage free of charge of three cords of firewood to Trentham Camp last week. The wood would be delivered to Trentham Camp by rail in about ten days’ time.
