Leading Rating F. J. Brett is spending short leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs J. Brett, South Road. Miss Jean Denham, who was visiting the Wairarapa for the Military Ball and the Carterton R.S A. Ball, has now returned to Wellington. Messrs P. Lyster, Campbell. B. Alexander. G. Young (Palmerston North). J. Barrett. S. Stewart. J. Miller. A. Stitt and M. Kirschberg (Wellington), arc at the Hotel Midland (Masterton), today. Mr William Frew, a resident of Foxton for the past 39 years, died in Palmerston North hospital on Tuesday at the age of 86. Another of Foxton’s identities. Mr Robert Sorbie, also died in Palmerston North Hospital. Mr Sorbie was aged 71. ( Sisters F. E. Siddells and E. H. Person, who have conducted the Glenwood Private Hospital in Masterton for the past 17 years, are giving up that establishment in order to take a wellearned rest. Miss Siddells and Miss Persen have an honourable record of nursing service in the Great War and they are members of the R.S.A. It is felt by members of that organisation and by many others throughout the district that something should be done in recognition of the services Miss Siddells and Miss Persen have rendered to the community and arrangements arc being made for a farewell at the Soldiers' Club, on July 17, at 2.30 p.m.. at which a presentation will be made. An advertisement inserted by the organising committee appears in another column today.
