MASTERTON SALE
IMPROVEMENT IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. The -Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly sale held yesterday, as follows: —Fat sheep were penned in larger numbers than the two previous weeks and the sale opened slightly easier, but as the sale progressed they showed a decided improvement on recent sales. Store sheep were in keen demand, particularly breeding ewes and a total clearance was effected at auction. Fat and store cattle sold at recent rates. Following were the prices: — Fats: Fat wethers, 26s to 26s lOd; fat ewes, 18s 3d, 19s 9d, 21s 6d to 225; light fat ewes, 14s to 16s 6d; fat S.D. ewes, 23s to 24s 3d; fat hoggets, 17s 6d, 18s Bd, 21s 9d to 225. Stores: Forward wethers, 2as Id; store wethers. 20s 6d, 22s 2d, 23s 3d to 23s 6d; m.a. ewes, r.w. Southdown ram, 20s, 25s 6d to 26s 3d; 5-yr. ewes, r.w. Ryeland rams. 20s 7d; small 2-th. ewes. 17s 6d; b.f. hoggets, 9s, 12s, 15s to 17s 6d; woolly wether hogget, 10s Id, 13s to .15s. Cattle: Fat heifers. £7 ss, £7 15s to £8 Is: fat cows. £5 9s. £6 10s. £7. £7 19s to £8 7s; fat dairy cows. £3 ss, £4 19s to £5: weaner Jersey heifers, £3.
