The Archbishops of Canterbury and York announced that the King warmly commends their appeal that every believer in God should make a momentary act of remembrance and prayer at noon daily. "The enemy is at the gate.” the announcement proceeds. “The time of testing has come. Th.e enemy will try to break the people's spirit and spread fear. There is one power which can overcome fear —faith in God.”
