OF GERMAN LANDING IN ENGLAND.

STORY SPREAD IN IDLE GOSSIP.

A statement was issued in London tonight that reports that German troops had landed on the British coast and by parachute in the Midlands were untrue. The reports arose through several people seeing a British plane flying at a low altitude towards rising ground and being unable to establish its identity. They very properly reported the matter to the authorities, but as a result of idle gossip a simply- explained incident was turned into a high-coloured German parachute landing.
