DEFENCE OF EIRE
UNITED ACTION BY NORTH AND SOUTH. HOPED FOR BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) DUBLIN. July 1. The Minister of Defence. Mr Frank Akien. in a speech said that more than 70,000 men had volunteered for the Eire defence force during the last few weeks. “We fully realise the value of unity today, and I have greater hope than at anv time in the last 20 years that we will see all the men in in Ireland. both north and south, fighting shoulder to shoulder in defence of our liberties,” he declared.
