Motor Car Raffle.
The drawing of the art union for the Humber 10 motor-car in aid of the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund took place at five o’clock last night in the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association’s clubrooms. The butts were placed in boxes in lots of a thousand, from 1 to 97,600, and the marbles were drawn one from each of the five baskets. The winning number was 27.569. which proved to be a blank butt. It was announced that 97,521 tickets had been sold and £4341 15s had been raised from the sale of tickets. In addition, small amounts totalling 16s 4Jd had been given to sellers, bringing the amount to £4342 11s 4Jd. Donations and sale of goods. £1625 8s 6d, and the proceeds from the Red Cross shop for one day, £lB4 3s lid, had brought the total raised by the association for the appeal to £6152 3s 9d.
