CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANY

SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT. AN EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. The Epiphany Hall was packed on Saturday night when the annual concert of the Epiphany Sunday School was held. Flags and bunting, kindly lent by Mrs Moss, made a gay showing, and was a fitting background to the final item, when the children, with bands of red, white and blue over their shoulders, and “Britannia" in their midst, sang three inspiring songs. “There'll Always Be An England," “Rule Britannia” and "Land of Hope and Glory," with Miss N. Boddington as soloist. From start to finish the programme went with a great swing, and was greatly appreciated by those present. The opening item was a bracket of songs by the girls. The juniors delighted the audience with their singing. Recitations were given by Jill Messenger, Valerie Hirst, Beryl Henderson, Peggy Davies, Shirley Harman, and Betty Barnes; piano solos by Jill Messenger. Heather Robertson; songs by Betty Barnes. Elva Jackson, Peggy Davies; a duet by' Jocelyn and Pamela Messenger; a Highland Fling by Phyllis Nelson: and a banjo solo by Bob Forrest. Another much appreciated item was a tableau and chorus, "South of the Border." In this item and in r short play by Bob Forrest. Trevor Judd, lan Hansen, Sedgley Bannister and Ralph Judd, lighting played t' prominent part and was made possible by a friend of the Sunday School. After the interval another play was presented by the Misses D. Kemp. A. Edge, J. Bannister. C. Kemp and B. Henderson, and Messrs K. Chapman. H. Davidson. L. Coley and “Rarna." During the interval the Vicar, the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, took the opportunity' of thanking the teachers for their work in connection with the concert, the many friends for assistance given and especially the children for their splendid ell’orts. The sale of sweets by Mrs Braggins and Miss Wyber made a considerable addition to the proceeds of the concert.
