FUND PASSES HALF MILLION MARK. NOTEWORTHY PATRIOTIC ACHIEVEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. In less than seven weeks the National Sick. Wounded and Distressed Fund has reached a total of more than half a million pounds, an average collection of over £lO.OOO daily. Mr J. Abel. Dominion organiser, said today that since they had set out to raise £250.000 the energy of the committees and the generosity of the public had been remarkable. The original quota had been secured in a short time. The attainment of half a million was a noteworthy effort in patriotic campaigns in New Zealand and had never been surpassed even in the last war. when patriotic fervour was at its height.
