Mr F. E. Groube, of Masterton, has entered Glenwood Hospital for treatment.

Mr R. Trevor Smith, formerly district public works engineer at Greymouth, and recently at Whangarei. .has been appointed major in charge of the 13th Railway Construction Company. 9nd N Z.E.F.. and is at present in the military camp at Ngaruawahia. There was a large attendance at the funeral in Masterton yesterday ot Mis E. Elliot. Services at the residence and graveside were conducted by the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from the Municipal Band, and the staff of Fagan Motors Ltd. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. Morris. J. Bruce. R. Sayers. G. Hutchinson. T. L. Martin and V. Stcans.

The death has occurred of a wellknown Hastings business man and sportsman, Mr Thomas Sinclair Roulston. aged 62. The late Mr Roulston was born in Napier and was educated at the Napier Boys’ High School. In his schooldays and youth he was prominent in swimming and Rugby football securing representative honours. When he left school, he joined the staff of Cotterill and Humphries, later Humphries and Humphries, solicitors, of Napier, and was managing clerk folmany years. After the Great War he established a business in Hastings as a land agent and stockbroker, frequently acting as buying agent, for prominent New Zealand and Australian owners.
