REPUBLICAN NOMINEE’S DECLARATION MR McNARY NOMINATED FOR VICE-PRESIDENCY. CONVENTION CONCLUDED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) PHILADELPHIA. June 28. The Republicans nominated Senator I C. L. McNary as Vice-President on a i first ballot. Mr Wendell Wil’.kie (Presidential nominee), in a brief speech, pledged himself to a crusade on defence of'American principles. “Democracy.” he said, ,“is facing the most crucial test in its history. We Republicans and Americans must dedicate ourselves to United States principles, for here is the last foothold of freedom throughout the world. As your nominee, I expect to conduct an aggressive, lighting campaign to bring unity in America to the farm, Labour and all classes, in order to bring about the preservation of freedom.” The convention then adjourned.
