NO RESISTANCE OFFERED BY RUMANIA
Apart From Some Minor Clashes GENERAL MOBILISATION ORDERED FEARS OF DEMANDS BY OTHER NEIGHBOURS No organised resistance was offered to the advance of Russian troops in Bessarabia beyond a few clashes oetween Soviet troops and Rumanian guards, a Daventry broadcast states. Refugees are pouring into Rumania. The Russian demands were made under threat of war. The Soviet was unwilling to negotiate in any particular. Rumania has set up a War Council to guard against any further seizures of Rumanian territory. Six members of the Cabinet have resigned, it is believed as a protest against agreeing to the Russian demands. Rumania has ordered a general mobilisation of all forces. This order was broadcast from Bucharest. It is stated that this may have some bearing on the claims for revision of territory by Rumania’s other neighbours. Both Hungary and Bulgaria have pressed with varying emphasis for the past 20 years for the return of territory.
