The Gibraltar correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says it is reported, without confirmation, from Casablanca that the Commander-in-Chief of the French North African Forces. General Nogues. has ordered the arrest of M. Daladier, the first French war Premier, who had arrived to confer with him. Other reports state that the commanders of French warships have given an assurance to General Nogues that they will continue to fight on the side of Britain. The “Daily Telegraph” reports that General Nogues ignored the Petain Government's command to return to France immediately. The Comfnander-in-Chief of the French armed forces under the Petain Government has sent a cable to General Nogues stating that the armistice is not contrary to the honour of the Fatherland and urging all Frenchmen to have faith in the Petain Government and obey its orders. The French Ambassador in London. M. Corbin, has tendered his resignation to the Petain Government, which has accepted it. M. Corbin informed the Foreign Secretary. Lord Halifax, of his decision on Tuesday. In Bordeaux the Foreign Minister. M. Baudouin, said that the Government did not envisage the immediate replacement of M. Corbin. He added that Mr Churchill's recent attitude had provoked pained astonishment in France. HONOUR SAVED ACCORDING TO WEYGAND. BORDEAUX. June 27.
