BABY CARNIVAL POSITION OF CANDIDATES. ("Times-Age” Special.) The weekly count of votes in connection with the Baby Carnival took place last evening and revealed that the Civil Service candidate retained its lead over the Fire Brigade nominee by 10.800 votes to 8,500. Last week's count was —Civil Service 6,000, Fire Brigade 3,450. The Civil Service has now paid in £45 and the Fire Brigade £35 10s.

MINIATURE RIFLES COMPETITION LAST NIGHT. The Eketahuna Miniature Rifle Club' held a competition at its range last night, the proceeds being in aid of the Fire Brigade candidate. There was an excellent attendance of members of the club and supporters of the Fire Brigade candidate and a most enjoyable time was spent. The scores were as follows: W. Dawson 66, J. Torrey 62, A. Neilsen 48, K. Doney 59, J. Curry 61, H. Rogers 45, F. West 59, V. Doney 50, H. Leslie 62, N. Richardson 34.- B. Mountjoy 44, G. Ryan 32. Mrs R. Duncan 64, H. Walton 60. GOLF LADIES’ COMPETITION. The following is the draw for the L.G.U. medal round, to be played on Saturday, play commencing at 1.30 p.m.: —Miss N. Greathead’v Mrs J. Berney; Mrs Henderson v Mrs Fraser; Miss W. Dickson v Mrs W. Simpson; Miss Angus v Mrs Mcßride; Mrs Page v Miss K. Herbert; Mrs R. Dickson v Mrs Anderson; Mrs Higginson v Miss A. Simmers; Miss P. O’Regan v Miss E. Simmers.
