OVERSEAS RECEPTION SCHEME APPOINTMENT OF ADVISORY COUNCIL. ANNOUNCED IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON. June 26. The Under-Secretary'for the Dominions, Mr G. Shakespeare, in the House of Commons, announced the personnel of the Advisory Council to the Children's Overseas Reception Scheme, under Lord Snell. Many members of the council are associated with social and welfare organisations. They include the Countess of Bessborough. Sir Ronald Lindsay. Miss Florence Horshburgh. Miss Ellen Wilkinson and Mr Gordon Green, representing the Fairbridge Farm Schools. OFFERS OF HOMES MADE FREELY IN AUSTRALIA. (Received This Day. 11.8 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Although the Commonwealth Government's plans for the transfer of children from war areas to Australia are ( based on bringing out 5,000 children,* offers of homes far exceed that number.
RIGHT OF NOMINATION
ALTERATION IN NEW ZEALAND PLANS. ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. An alteration macle in the scheme under which children evacuated from Britain are to come to the Dominion provides for the nomination by New Zealanders of those children who would be cared for in the homes of relatives and friends in New Zealand. Announcing this today, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry) said the right of nomination would greatly hearten people in the Dominion whose relatives in England had children to be evacuated for safety. The New Zealand Government was setting up the necessary organisation to facilitate this arrangement. Any New Zealanders wishing to nominate the children of relatives or friends in Britain should send particulars to the Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, and should give the names and full addresses of their British relatives or friends and specify the names of children whom they particularly desire to have with them.
