SUPPORT FOR WAR EFFORT. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Workers' Union, which opened at Wellington on June 19 and concluded on June 24. two decisions of an important nature, dealing w “h the Union’s contribution to the wai effort, were arrived at unanimously by the delegates. They are: An appeal is to be issued to all officials, organisers and members to donate a day’s pay to support the Governments war effort and the whole of the proceeds from the appeal are to be forwarded to the Minister of Finance, and that the union lend to the New Zealand Government, free of interest. £5 000, for the duration of the war and six months thereafter. A cheque for £5,000 has been forwarded to Mr Nash.
