RAIDS BY BRITISH LANDING PARTIES Naval and Air Forces Assist INFORMATION SECURED AND LOSSES INFLICTED FURTHER DAMAGING AIR ATTACKS ON GERMANY British raiding forces landed on the enemy front carried out useful reconnaissance work, states a Daventry broadcast. Contact was made with German troops and valuable information was obtained. An announcement to this effect was made by the Ministry of Information, which stated that in co-operation with the R.A.F., naval and military raiders carried out a successful reconnaissance of the enemy coast line. Landings were made at several points. Casualties were inflicted on the enemy. The British forces suffered no casualties.

The R.A.F. is maintaining its bombing raids. An Air Ministry communique states that on Tuesday night bombers carried out attacks on enemy aerodromes, railway communications and other military objectives in north-west Germany and elsewhere. Aerodromes were also bombed. A railway bridge was destroyed and railway junctions and marshalling yards attacked. A large fire was started in a railway siding and an oil refinery was severely damaged. An aircraft factory was bombed and an explosion was caused in a chemical works. On the way back, a bomber shot down an enemy fighter. All the British machines returned.

From reconnaissances over Scandinavia two aircraft of the Coastal Command failed to return. In an air battle over Northern France, British machines shot down three out of 17 Messerschmitts. Three more of the German fighters were severely damaged and several others were hit. The British suffered no casualties. A communique states: Naval and military raiders, in cooperation with the R.A.F., yesterday carried out successful reconnaissances of the enemy coastline. Landings were effected at a number of points and contact was made with enemy troops. Casualties were inflicted and some enemy dead fell into our hands. Much useful information was obtained. There were no British casualties.
