PERSONAL

Mr J. D. McDougall, of Masterton. is visiting Napier. Messrs J. Herron (Sydney), George Drummond, Newlyn, H. Sim (Wellington), R. Blinkhorn (Palmerston North) are guests at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton. Mr W. B. Fitchett, a member of the Wellington Colleges Board of Governors, has been granted leave of absence while in the army. Mr Fitchett enters camp on Monday and will be a company commander in the Fourth Reinforcement.

The Rev Hemi Potatau, of the Presbyterian mission staff at Taupo, has enlisted as a private. He has been granted leave of absence by the. missions committee, which expressed cordial appreciation of the value of his work.

Mr Landa Leng, who at one time was well known in musical circles in Wellington and Palmerston North, died recently in Sheffield. England, as the result 2 of an operation. He leaves a widow and two sons. Messrs Ronald and Douglas Leng, all of whom live in England. *

The death occurred recently at Hokitau, Thames, at the residence of his sister. Mrs Ellis, of Mr Joseph Dillon, formerly of Masterton. The deceased worked for a number of years at the Waingawa Works and latterly as a farm employee. He had been in ill health for the past two years. The late Mr Dillon had relatives at Mangamahoe. The interment took place at Thames.
