ORDER TO CEASE FIRE

GIVEN BY KING CHRISTIAN OF DENMARK. King Christian of Denmark personally gave the order for resistance to cease after his son, Lieutenant Prince Valdemar of Rosenberg, who was in command of the Royal Palace Guards, had ordered his men to fire on the Germans, states M. Bonnefoy Sibour (until recently French Minister in Copenhagen), in an interview with the paper ’’Petit Parisien.” M. Sibour said that German motorised units arrived at the Palace gates a few minutes after the entry of the Germans into Copenhagen. Three of Prince Valdemar’s men had fallen when the King, hearing the firing. came down the Palace steps and ordered resistance to cease.

Prince Valdemar was imprisoned and the Germans promised to release him later, but up to the present his fate is unkown.
