CRASH INTO SEA

AIR MISHAP NEAR WHANGAREI. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI. June 25. A Blackburn Baffin medium bomber from Whenuapai crashed into the sea off Onerahi this morning. Pilot Officer Mackenzie, Aircraftsman A. A. Hodder and B. Heath escaped without even being wetted. They were able to save the moveable gear, including radio set, instruments and clothing, which were taken to shore in dinghies, which quickly clustered round. In bringing the plane down Pilot Officer Mackenzie made a skilful landing. At full tide the lower part of the upper wing was just above the surface of the water. The machine is apparently resting on its wheels and nose, with the tail in the air.
