FEATHERSTON

PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Miss R. Riddiford has joined the Nursing Staff of the Masterton Hospital. Misses B. Bocket and G. Fenwick will join the Nursing Staff of the Wellington Public Hospital this week. Sister Hendy. of Kelvin Hospital, is spending a short holiday in Napier. Sister Pohl (Christchurch) has commenced duties at the Kelvin Hospital.

At a meeting of the Home and School Association, Mrs Lowell was appointed secretary. Mrs Chas‘Rea (daughter) and Mrs C. J. Carlyon (niece) of Mrs Halley, are in Wellington to attend Mrs Halley’s 90th birthday. Mrs Halley is well known in Featherston. The death occurred recently at Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer Springs, of Miss Minnie E. Farrow, who has been in ill health for the last few years. The late Miss Farrow was a keen church worker, having taught Sunday School classes at St John’s Church. She was well known and highly respected, having lived for many years in the Featherston district. Mrs Doris McMaster, who has been seriously ill, is reported to be improving. Miss G. Saba left today to join the Nursing Staff of the Wellington Public Hospital. Candidates Congratulated.

Dr. Sharp, in presenting last night the certificates and medalion to the successful candidates in the recent Hygiene and Sanitation examination, extended his congratulations and said that the result reflected credit on the lecturer. Honours were gained in 11 out of 18 cases. First Aid Lectures. Lectures in the Intermediate and Elementary First Air Class havejregun. Dr. G. S. Sharp and Mr Willett are giving the lectures. influenza Epidemic. There is an epidemic of influenza at present in Featherston.
