PURCHASING MISSION

NEW ZEALAND MINISTER IN AUSTRALIA HOPES OF INDUSTRIAL \ CO-OPERATION. j PRODUCTION OF MUNITIONS. * By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE, June 25.

The New Zealand Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, arrived in Melbourne today on his war purchasing and organising mission. He interviewed the Commonwealth Supply Minister, Sir Frederick Stewart and will see the Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, and other Ministers later. He will remain in Australia till the mission is completed, whether it takes days or weeks. Mr Sullivan said that the time had come for industrial co-operation between New Zealand and Australia. New Zealand’s organisation had gone satisfactorily, but the new crisis demanded stiff further activity. He hoped to place orders in Australia for trawlers that could be converted to mine-sweepers, Bren gun carriers, materials for filling shells, and munition machinery generally. “So far the Commonwealth has shown a spirit of co-operation, and working together, Australia and New Zealand should achieve results,” said Mr Sullivan.
