“GIFT EVENING”

PRE-WEDDING GATHERING. Eighty-five guests were present at an enjoyable “gift evening” tendered in the Orange Hall. Masterton, recently, by Mr and Mrs R. Thompson, to Miss B. Hanley, of Gisborne, and Mr Arthur Beals, of Masterton, whose marriage will take place shortly. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Mr Arnold Barnes, and Mr Len Pike capably carried out the duties of M.C. Mrs F. Curry, of Carterton, gave several solos, which were thoroughly appreciated. A novelty dance was won by Miss J. Askew and Mr J. Marshall. Supper was served by the ladies.

The guests of the evening were the recipients of many beautiful gifts, which were acknowledged by Mr A. Beals. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem brought a happy gathering to a close.
