CLEARING SALE. SPIRITED COMPETITION. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held a very successful clearing sale at Dyerville, when wc offered the complete herd of dairy cows, heifers, etc., on account of Mi H. J. Pryor. The cows came forward in good condition, and the individual dates and tests were given with eacl cow. There was a large attendance buyers being present from Mangaroa Upper Hutt, Petone, Eketahuna and the local districts. From the offset competition was spirited. Early calving cows commanded good money, making from £l4 to £l7 10s. late calvers from £lO to £l3 10s and odd late calvers £8 10s to £lO. The whole herd, including odd unsound cows, made the very satisfactory average of £ll 14s. There was also a good demand foi springing and empty heifers, springers making from £8 5s to £ll. and a heifer just calved £ll 10s. The 18months heifers, which were rather on the small side, sold under competition at £6 and the weaner heifers, which were good Jersey colours, and from selected cows, made from £3 ss. There was also a large quantity of sundries offered, and these, which were in very good order, commanded competition, making prices slightly above those ruling at late sales. The principal sales were as follows: —Alpha Laval separator and motor, £5l; 5-cow L.K.G. milking machine. £5l; milk cans, £2 10s; cooler. £1 10s; 1 aged draught gelding. £l7 10s. A quantity of harness, etc., made late rates.
