Heavy Damage Done to Factories and Railways ANOTHER ITALIAN SUBMARINE SUNK MR CHURCHILL PRAISES GALLANT DEFENCE OF MALTA On Sunday the R.A.F. carried out daylight attacks on military objectives in Germany. Three British machines are missing. On Sunday night attacks were made on munitions factories, marshalling yards and other military objectives in Germany. Heavy damage was done. All the British aircraft returned safely. The Admiralty states that yet another U-boat has been destroyed by British naval forces east of Suez. The number definitely destroyed since Italy’s entry into the war is now six. At Malta more than 60 Italian planes took part in an attack, in which five civilians were injured, but only slight damage was done. Two Italian planes were brought down. Mr Winston Churchill, in a message to the Governor of Malta, expressed his conviction that the forces in Malta would make their defence glorious in British military history and also in the history of Malta itself.
