MEN’S DIVISION SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. HASTWELLS v WESLEY. Hastwells and Wesley met at Lansdowne on Saturday and although the game was fast, too much hard hitting, especially by Hastwells, spoilt the production of good hockey. These tactics did not give Wesley a chance and they could not show the form they have shown in some of their previous games. Hastwells set the pace from the start and had Wesley defending strongly. Clever stick work by Brian Dick gave him the opening score of the game after 15 minutes' play. Play was very even for the remainder of the spell, Hastwells being only dangerous once when Brian Dick found the net but obstruction robbed him of the goal. The spell ended Hastwells 1. Wesley 0. Soon after the start of the second spell Bob Dick added to Hastwells’ score from a scramble in the circle. Raukere made a very fine solo run through the Weslej’ defence but onehanded stick work with only the goalie to beat spoiled his chance. Worthington then scored a good goal from a combined forward movement. Shortly afterwards Raukere added two goals in quick time, one from a scramble in front of the net and the other with a hot shot. About five minutes before the call of time Bob Dick got his second goal, the game ending in Hastwells' favour, 6/0.

Messrs Hayne and Moor were the umpires.

CARTERTON v DALEFIELD

The half-time score was 4/2 in favour of Dalefield and the final score Carterton 6. Dalefield 4. Messrs J. Fisher and L. Gallon were the umpires.
