LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
WAR WORK ACTIVITIES. BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. The Masterton League of Mothers held its monthly meeting on Wednesday in the Parish Hall. The president, Mrs L. B. Maunsell. held a short admission service, when 14 new members joined the league. The league delegate to the Red Cross Committee, Mrs W. A. Michael, received hussifs and .pay-book covers made by members and explained the comfort parcel system. For this purpose she collected donations to cover the cost of 14 such parcels. She pointed out that this call would be made every three months and urged them to realise that their efforts were only just beginning. The choir rendered two items and a recitation by Mrs Leadley was much appreciated. The speaker for the day was the Rev. Te Haepa. of St. Matthew’s Church, who. by diverting their thoughts to the euphony of the Maori language and the wisdom of Maori parables carried them far from pre-sent-day anxieties. This relaxation was enjoyed by all members. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Falloon, Norman, Russell, Hunter, Stubbings and Mitchell.
