GREYTOWN
PRESBYTERIAN GUILD FAREWELL TO MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Ladies' Guild of the Greytown Presbyterian Church was held last evening, Mrs A. Johnson (president), occupied the chair, and after the business of the Guild had been completed those present adjourned to the Sunday school room to bid farewell to two members. Mrs J. W. Barnard and Mrs T. Orr. who are leaving the district. Owing to indisposition, the Rev Bloomfield was unable to be present. Mrs Johnson presented Mrs Barnard with a hand bag and Mrs Orr with a crystal vase. Mrs Johnson expressed the regret of all, that the Guild was losing two valuable members. Mrs A. H. Bull, on behalf of the League of Mothers extended good wishes from the league members. Mrs Bower spoke on behalf of the Sunday school, which through the departure of both families would lose four most regular attenders. During the evening items were rendered by Mesdames Farley, Knell, Morison, snr., and Miss Kedell. The ladies’ committee provided supper and the gathering was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
RETURNED SOLDIERS MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of the Greytown Branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last evening at the residence of Mr S. C. Shedden. Mr J. W. Herod presided. Also present were Miss Higginson; Messrs A. Nesbit, G. Robinson, S. Shedden, W. Hutchings, H. Carter, R. O’Neale. The question of uneconomic farms was discussed. The chairman was deputed to investigate several cases and report to the association.. The secretary (Mr G. Robinson) was appointed to visit the members now in hospital. After the meeting Mrs Shedden provided supper, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A Bicycle Accident. Mr Frank Mason, of Moroa, met with an accident when the forks of his bicycle broke. Mr Mason suffered injuries to his head and shoulders, and has been admitted to the Greytown Hospital for treatment. . Hockey. The Greytown Juniors will play Wesley at Greytown at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow. The team is: McKenna. McKenzie (2), Anker, Keltie, Strange, Humphries, Greathead, Dauber, Morgan, Bouzaid, emergency, A. Morgan. The Scouts will play College A at Greytown at 2.30 p.m. The Kia Kaha team to play College Old Girls at Masterton on Saturday will be as follows. The bus will leave Post Office at 1.50 p.m.:—K. Maloney, C. Farrell, D. McCarty, M. McKenna, E. Bouzaid, P. Sugrue, B. Woodley, I. Evenson, M. Keltie, L. Sugrue, R. Peterson, emergency, P. Cadwallader. Pre-Wedding Party. A Bridge party was held at the residence of Mrs W. J. Knell, West Street, yesterday afternoon, the guest of honour being Sister Cheer, of the Greytown Hospital staff, who is to be married shortly. Among those present was Mrs Cheer senr, of Palmerston North. The prize winners were Mesdames Wood and Tully, and the hidden number was won by Miss Cheer. Personal. The Rev H. Bloomfield is at present confined to his room owing to sickness.
