An unidentified radio report states ; that Marshal Petain resigned after api pointing the plenipotentiaries. M. Pier- ; re Laval is charged with the formation ; of a new Cabinet. - FRENCH ENVOYS RECEPTION BY GERMANS. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) BERLIN, June 20. The Official News Agency says the French Government nominated as plenipotentiaries General Huntziger, M. Leon Noel, Rear-Admiral Leluc and Air Marshal Pergeret. The German High Command immediately ordered the reception of the French envoys. MEETING YESTERDAY (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) ! BORDEAUX, June 20. It is officially stated that the French plenipotentiaries met the German representatives this afternoon. DESTRUCTIVE RAID BORDEAUX DECLARED OPEN TOWN. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) BORDEAUX. June 20. The Government announced that it was leaving Bordeaux, which it is declaring an open town in order to avoid useless destruction. A hundred German bombers attacked Bordeaux in the second biggest airraid France has experienced since the outbreak of war. Incendiary and high explosive bombs fell in the city and nearby airports and docks.' Shipping suffered severely. There were at least sixty serious civilian casualties. ITALIAN REPLY PLACE FOR NEGOTIATIONS TO BE FIXED. ORDERS TO FRENCH FLEET. . (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) ROME. June 20. Italy has replied to France's request for an armistice that she would fix a place and date for negotiations after she had been notified of the names of plenipotentiaries. / An official radio message states that France has ordered her fleet to report to the nearest French or Algerian port to await orders.
